How To Sell What You Know

The Key To Selling Your Expertise

YOU Are An Expert

You can do something or teach others how to do something where you know more than they do about that something. Now, how can you make money with your expertise?

Selling a product seems pretty straight forward. You produce it, package it, market it, sell it, deliver it, and sometimes service it. Selling a service or your knowledge is no different. You know it, you package it, you market it, you sell it, and sometimes you service it.

3 Essentials To Do To Sell What YOU Know:

    • Discover and define what you know. This is your occupation. Define it in a short phrase that people will immediately understand what you do in broad terms. The more niche specific that you make it, the easier it will be to market your skill. If you do legal work, and are qualified to call yourself an attorney or lawyer, become a special kind of lawyer rather than a general practitioner. I.E. divorce lawyer or trademark attorney. If you can’t convince yourself what your specific expertise is, how can you ever simply tell others what you do without confusing them.

    • Identify who needs what you know. What you know and do should be something that you are so passionate about doing it that you’d do it for free, if you could. Who does not know what you know? Who does not want to do what you can do for them? This is your market. If you are not clear about who your market is, you will waste a whole lot of time talking to people who will never be able to help you get what you want. If that is the case, you will be frustrated a lot.

  • Strategize, Systemize, and Moneytize the transfer of your knowledge, experience, and wisdom (what you know) to your market (those who need what you know). If you focus on the three keys of biz success (Customers, Revenue, Profit), you will be able to build a sustainable business around what you know.
