The Discipline Of Regularity

If you don’t do it now, when will you do it?

Plane ScheduleCan you imagine arriving at the airport prior to your scheduled flight and it does not appear on the reader board? There’s no apparent reason other than the airline just didn’t get around to it today. Does an experience like this help increase your trust level for the offending company?

My thought today is inspired by a post from Chris Brogan. He is writing about the discipline of blogging and showing up. He gives some very good reasons why you should post regularly.

His rational can apply to selling your expertise or any other product or service. Constancy will reflect on your reputation and the mere act of showing up regularly and becoming visible to your target audience will serve you well in your selling success.

November has been a busy month for me. Coaching sessions, training workshops, family activities, and a period of lost time fighting with a flu-bug. My blog posting has suffered by being put-off while doing other tasks. This is not a good showing of consistency for someone espousing the merits of maintaining an informative blog for clients, friends, and followers.

OK, now that I’ve confessed my short-comings, what am I going to do about it?

I will re-commit to post regularly and give it the importance that it deserves in my overall service offering and marketing program.

It has been said that making a public commitment will help inspire us to keep it. I believe we do create an inner strength that can help us accomplish worthy goals if we share it with our friends and associates.

Now that I’ve shared this with you, what can you do to re-commit to a worthy goal? Give it some thought and share your views if you would like.

Update – a little over a year later

It’s been over a year now since I wrote this, and in looking back on this post I can say that I have been better with my discipline of regularity and my business has grown steadily since then. I feel even more strongly now about the importance that regularity plays in success in any endeavor.
