Spamming yourself out of business may be an act of suicide

Are you committing Marketing Suicide? Social Media is an opportunity for disaster. Have you committed the crime and you don’t know it yet?

Let’s face it folks. You are participating in Social Media activity to promote yourself, your business, or your ideas. If you don’t know the proper way to use this new media reality, you should learn to swim before plunging in. Otherwise, you may just cause more harm than good to your business reputation and image. The test marketing you used to do in local settings can now be spread throughout the entire web and become permanent public failures.

If your act of suicide is involuntary – it does not have to be final. There is still hope. You can repent and re-start. You may have to change your name if you have attracted lots of followers. Many of them might be driven to commit social media homicide. (Kill YOU from their circle of influence)

I’d like to share my Top 3 mistakes most often observed.

  • Blatant self-promotion and selling with every post and communication. Becoming Human Junk-Mail.
  • Network connection requests with no meaningful relevance. Being the invisible friend.
  • Cross promotion requests with no value add. Hey, can I spam your network or group with my business advertisement?
